Making faces under clothes transparent rather than deleting

Has anyone looked at making the faces that are hidden by clothing transparent/invisible rather than removing the faces, in order to maintain physics properties?

Even better maybe would be to have an alpha mask which could be more precise.

Isn't that what MHX2 already does? If you uncheck "delete faces" in makehuman prior to export, you can ask MHX2 to use a mask modifier instead of removing the faces upon import.

That's the way it was done in old MH versions. The downside: Another texture to create. But as you said, it can be much more precise, because you're not limited to make whole faces vanish. One of the worst decissions the MH devs ever made was to actually delete body vertices by default. It's a one way trip. There's no way back.

As Joepal already stated: MHX2 can create a mask modifier instead of deleteing vertices.
