BitTorrent?

Just read the complaints about the download speed on FB. If you really have a traffic of 200GB per day wouldn't it be useful to distribute via BitTorrent relieving the ftp-server?

That would be great but for the fact that most north american ISP's do something called traffic shaping that gives torrents a very low priority.

Enjoy the Choice :)

Maybe, but this would only be problem if the relative part of NA download is very significantly higher then the part of the rest of the world, what I personally disbelieve. If the ftp traffic and the load on the server can be reduced, NA would also benefit.

The tuxfamily guys have a pretty relaxed attitude to the load, so I'm not overly worried in between major releases. But having a torrent is a good idea anyway.

What might "work" is have a series of torrents with

1 %platform% (one of Windows|Source|Mac|Linux in Release|Testing versions)
2 A copy of the most current Community Assets zipfile (corrected for that LFS issue)
3 Instructions on how to put things together and a basic starter guide
