File extension of 3D scan

Postby Ashleee » Thu Feb 03, 2022 1:44 pm

Hello,
I want to make a 3D scan of my girlfriend's head and import it into MH. What is the best 3D format for this (Artec Studio allows to export STL/OBJ files)? I've read that there are problems with .obj 3d files sometimes.

You will need to import it into blender as an intermediate step. So any format supported by blender is fine. I'd say obj is a reasonable choice.

The resulting image data is then processed by software to generate a 3D model.
The images captured by a 3D scanner may be stored as two-dimensional images or as point clouds: collections of points in three dimensions that record the exact location of each pixel. wordle 2
3D scanners can capture objects from multiple viewpoints, allowing for more accurate models than other scanning techniques. They can also create models in a variety of formats, from raw point cloud data to high-resolution digital files suitable for use in CAD programs.
