What is the "sync with MH" button for MH for Blender do?

Not trying to be smart ass here but this is the button I am referring to:

what does this do?

I smacked it to see what it would do with the model on the screen loaded into MH and Blender at the same time and this happened:

where'd her shirt go?

Didn't find anything in the logs that would be of interest.

The theory is that if you have a character you already imported in blender, and have that exact character in MH, you should be able to modify a target in MH and click the sync button to get the change reflected to blender.

As you can see, it is not always a smooth experience.

I tend to just reimport the whole character if I changed something. It only takes a few seconds anyway.

OK... I'll use up my "stupid question" quota for the day. (I'm allowed one...)

Do you delete the character from Blender before you re-import or just reimport over the character. In my case I've added a particle hair system and rather not lose my work...

By reimport I mean deleting the character I have and importing a new one. The sync button is specifically for your use case: you have something you've continued to work on and want to include a change from MH in that work without losing what you've added. But as you've seen it is not always very stable.

OK, had a feeling that's why I called it a stupid question.

That's what I thought. My change in MH was changing the pose from a standing pose to sitting.

But as you've seen it is not always very stable.

In other words do what I did which was to save what I had prior to mashing the sync button. Got it.

Note that there are two "sync with mh" buttons. The first only syncs shape, and will presume that the character is in the same pose on both ends. The second is under "bone operations" and is intended to work on the rig. It has pretty strict requirements in order to be enabled, and even with that it will end up with strangeness in many situations.
