I've imported a human mesh using the mhx format, but every time i try to render it, the render has two pass: the first renders the body, the second delete it (!) with a gray screen.
Why?

I've done a lot wish rendering in blender with Makehuman (check the gallery and see) and I haven't had trouble.
The first time it renders, does it have color and everything? or are you talking about the SSS? (a pure white model with transparent factors) If it just renders the SSS, then a blank frame, check that your image is actually reading correctly and make sure that the alpha is being calculated by the skin texture's transparency.

If neither of these things is the issue, check your compositor to make sure you don't have another scene or another renderlayer being rendered separately and displayed instead.

Some screen shots of the various stages and a clearer explanation would be appreciated. ;)

Good luck.

I've noticed this problem a few times, and each and every time I have realised that it's only happening in 'recovered' autosave files that are tucked away in a tmp folder or when using the 'restore last session' option which again actually loads a 'quit' scene file.

If I save the autosave or quit scene in the original directory I was working in and reopen it, renders will output perfectly fine again, which leads to suspect it's simply a quirk with blender being unable to access the material at all in autosave and/or quit scenes.
