MakeHuman-Generated FBX shows up without Textures in Mixamo

Hello,

I am trying to animate a model that I have created in MakeHuman by uploading it to Mixamo [1]. The problem I am getting is that Mixamo is showing a plastic model without any of the textures.

When I use the FBX export function of MakeHuman, I get an FBX file "model.fbx" together with a folder "textures". I tried the following:
- Zip both "model.fbx" and "textures" and upload the zip to Mixamo. This does not show the textures in Mixamo.
- Zip both "model.fbx" and the files inside "textures" (i.e. FBX and PNGs are in the same folder) and upload the zip to Mixamo. This does not show the textures in Mixamo.
- Perform the two previous operations by using OBJ instead of FBX. This does not show the textures in Mixamo.
- Open "model.fbx" in Blender, and re-export by embedding textures i.e. the FBX now contains the textures, and upload the FBX to Mixamo. This does not show the textures in Mixamo.

I am able to use Mixamo with other FBX models (made by me, or download from the web) and it shows textures just fine.

What can I do to solve this issue?

In [2], I share the model I am trying to animate in Mixamo. The (~26 MBs) zip contains the FBX and the textures folder.

Cheers.

We know that our fbx exporter is flawed it is a propitiatory format owned by Autodesk that they do not expose at all to the Open Source community they do have a connection to the blender foundation though so their import/export is much better than ours so a change in your workflow maybe in order.
Export from makehuman to blender with either mhx2 or MPFB our makehuman blender bridge app
From blender export to fbx
Import into Mixano

It does add an other step but the accuracy is much better please feel free to continue the conversation if you have any further issues.

Enjoy the Choice :)

Thank you for your prompt answer,

I am having new issues now that I will detail in the following. I use MakeHuman's stable release v1.2.0 (is this the release you assume?), Blender v2.93.5, and MakeHuman Blender Plugin v0.7.0. The human model is purely a naked human with a hat.

I understand from your description that I can send my model from HumanMaker via two ways: (i) by exporting to MHX2 (and I believe importing this to blender somehow), and (ii) by using the Blender plugin for HumanMaker. Now, After exporting to MHX2, I could not see a way to import the file in Blender because the extension MHX2 does not show in my Blender's import menu. So I switched to using the second method i.e. using the MH plugin to import the model, so I opened a socket in HumanMaker and clicked "Import Human" in the plugin, and the model was imported.

The issue now is the human skin shows in Blender in white, and the hat shows fine I think (not too sure as the colors of the hat look different a little bit to me).
- This is how the model shows in MakeHuman: https://www.dropbox.com/s/uz5pwjah62f1dfz/1.%20Model%20in%20MakeHuman.png?dl=0
- This is how the model shows in Blender: https://www.dropbox.com/s/5x5yddxmenlywe2/2.%20Imported%20Model%20to%20Blender.png?dl=0
- This is how the hat shows in MakeHuman: https://www.dropbox.com/s/b5qwm51c4c1g0ns/3.%20Fedora%20in%20MakeHuman.png?dl=0
- This is how the hat shows in Blender: https://www.dropbox.com/s/t118g8625zlgml7/4.%20Fedora%20in%20Blender.png?dl=0

When I export the model to FBX and view the FBX, they look like this:
- This is how the exported model shows without textures embedded: https://www.dropbox.com/s/wv4bcmh04kfy43i/5.%20Exported%20FBX%20Viewed%20by%20Windows%203D%20Viewer.png?dl=0
- This is how the exported model shows with textures embedded: https://www.dropbox.com/s/aywliffsl745zf1/6.%20Exported%20FBX%20%28with%20Textures%20Embedded%29%20Viewed%20by%20Windows%203D%20Viewer.png?dl=0

As can be seen, that hat is not textured, and the skin that did not show in Blender is somehow restored.

I am also attaching the model files here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/g20ys7kwr7u06cz/model-03.zip?dl=0

I haven't uploaded to Mixamo yet because things look wrong to me at this pre stage.

Any ideas?

Thanks.
