Export Rendered jpg - png in high resolution

Postby Anil_Yoda_Jedi » Tue Oct 20, 2020 2:08 pm

Hi, Is there any way I can render and export an image in a higher resolution than the 96dpi which seems standard. Ideally I would like at least 300 dpi . Thanks

Not with in the makehuman app export to blender where you have more control of all the render parameters including dpi.

Enjoy the Choice :)

:?: :?: :?: Stupid question: What's the intended size of your image. In case your render an image with 300x300 pixel and display/print it somewhere with a size of 2,54cmx2,54cm, that should get you round about 300dpi. Am I wrong?
Ultimate stupid question: Did you give it a try? Doing some quick testing, there were no bigger problems to render 8192x8192 pixel, though with a resolution of 16384x16384 my system crashed. 32G ram aren't enough. (desperately need to set memory limit for a single application...)

If using MH's built-in render engine makes sense at all, is something different. I'm using it mostly to create thumbnails. In that particular case a resolution of 1024x1024 is definitely overkill...

-------- From what I know pixels determines size and dpi determines dot density which, in turn, determines quality of image - 800X600 (MH defaut) is fine for me but the default dot density (dpi) of 96 is not good enough for what I am trying to do

---- I can well appreciate that going for a size of 16384X16384 will crash a 32G RAM system

As Aranuvir said:
(inches desired) x (dots per inch) = pixel width or pixel height to choose during render

Example
300 dpi x 5 inches = 1500 x 1500 pixels

If you are from non-imperial country, 300 dpi is approximately 118 dots/cm and 5 inches is approximately 12.7 cm. Otherwise, the math approach is the same.

762 dpc x 12.7 cm ~ 1500 pixels x 1500 pixels

And of course, a "dot" is a pixel in this context.
