Hello!
I am quite new at this and have encountered a problem. I've made a model in Makehuman. Ive downloaded all the recommended plugins for blender and makehuman as suggested. When I import the obj and bvh files in blender they end up at different locations in blender (dont know if this is important). I assure that position and rotation is at zero for the armature and the mesh in object mode. I then move the mesh to cover the armature in editmode and set the origin of the mesh to 3D curser (same as armature). The positions remains zero in rotation and position in object mode.

When I then parent with automatic weights in objectmode the mesh does NOT follow armature in posemode.

I do have the plugin for importing directly in blender via mhx2 but how do I do this from blender? (Via import I can see that I can choose the file but I dont know were to look for it..)

What do I have to do to make this work?

Please can anyone help me?

I think you're confusing a set of different things here:

* Exporting as obj will give you a dumb mesh export. Wavefront OBJ doesn't support rigs or posing.
* Exporting as obj is not needed for neither MHX nor the new MPFB importer
* There is no "online" import in MHX, this is a feature of MPFB, see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tAwfR-G813g (and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eEaVZVbTJOQ for specific blender 2.8x instructions)

In summary, use the Makehuman Plugin For Blender (MPFB), also known as "MH Community". MHX is largely deprecated, and importing via OBJ was always a last kind of resort.

Thank you so much for getting back to me that fast! I thing I understand what youre saying.. One problem, blender cannot connect to makehuman via the plugin.

I have installed 1.1.1 version of makehuman (I work with OSX) and I have the 2.831 version of blender.

Can I import via MHX2? How do I do that? Im very basic, just starting out.. Thank you for your patience..

Maybe I should also say that I have no community tab in Makehuman 1.1.1 and cannot enable connections via this tab.. Is that the problem?

MakeHuman 1.1.1 is very old. It doesn't come with the community stuff enabled, nor with MHX preinstalled.

You will need 1.2.0 for that.

If you want to use 1.1.1, you'll have to stick with MHX and install the proper MHX versions in both MH ("MHX MH side") and Blender ("MHX blender side"). These can be found here: http://www.makehumancommunity.org/content/plugins.html. Further, note that MHX is somewhat shaky in blender 2.8x, so you might want to use blender 2.79 if sticking with makehuman 1.1.1 and MHX.

With the above enabled, you can in MH "export" to MHX, and then in blender 2.79 do file -> import -> mhx2 and open the file you exported.

To expand upon joepal's response,

MakeHuman for OSX currently has an issue, there is no programmer support for making a dmg installer file.
Without an installer, users have two options, both of which are not ideal.

(1) Use MakeHuman 1.1.1, MHX, and Blender 2.79
This restrict's the user to the older Blender and MakeHuman, all with less support and features

(2) Use MakeHuman 1.2.0, community, and Blender 2.8
The user has to be able to install MakeHuman from the source. See: https://github.com/makehumancommunity/makehuman
There is an issue with scrollbars: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=18600

If you have the capability, option 2 is nicer.

Ok, thank you so much for your replies. In the end I only used the wavefront obj and I added a rig from blender, wich seems to work fine. I only want to do simple videos and images of this character and that seems to work so Im happy.

Maybe in the future I can use the newer versions on OSX as well, hoping for that :)
