Using make Human models

Postby Kalex07 » Mon Apr 06, 2020 4:14 pm

Hi, quick question for the guys in charge. I've been reading the licencing and forum posts for a few hours now but I don't quite understand the licence for using models in a game I create. Can I use models I make (for free) with make Human in a game if I do manage to sell it and copyright it? Or would any projects I make have to be under the same licence as make human? All the YouTubers are saying we can use them in games we might sell but I get the impression the licence says different. :D

The version of the licence we use say you can use it any way you want to for free that includes commercial use.

Enjoy the Choice :)

Ok thank you for the reply. I take it we just need to put make Human™ in the credits?

Just a little side note: The license only applies to the models and assets, that come along with the application. If you are using assets from the community, you'll have to check the licenses one by one. To confuse things a bit more, the provided license of an asset does not necessarily equal the intended license. There was a default setting in old MakeClothes adding AGPL automatically to an asset. I'm not sure if this is fixed for all assets, now. Furthermore, please keep in mind, that some community assets might come from a less legal source, which might cause greater complications in commercial products...

it's the AGPL that confused me. I thought it applied to the character models that were made and used with Make Human. Good to know about make clothes. I was just planing on using the unclothed characters anyway and trying out making clothes myself in blender.
