hair file not being read

Postby mschickenboo » Mon Aug 27, 2018 3:44 am

I. Am. A. PROFESSIONAL. N00B. OH MY GOD.

I keep trying to add an altered hair png to makehuman. I put it, and the mhmat file I altered so it says the name of my file, in the hair folder in both the v1 folder and the home dir.

but... it no- showy uppy?

am I just STOOOPID? what am I not doing right? I am SO CLOSE I can TASTE IT.

I made the png by altering an already altered png that was made from the base assets already in the program.
longhairblue.png is my finished png.

Then I altered the existing mhmat file for the file I altered to show my filename.
here it is:
# Material definition for long hair blue material

name long hair blue material
description Long_hair_blue material
ambientColor 1.0 1.0 1.0
diffuseColor 0.329411764706 0.133333333333 0.0313725490196
specularColor 0.0705882352941 0.0705882352941 0.0705882352941
shininess 0.1961
emissiveColor 0.0 0.0 0.0
opacity 1.0
translucency 0.0

shadeless False
wireframe False
transparent True
alphaToCoverage True
backfaceCull False
depthless False

castShadows True

receiveShadows True

diffuseTexture long_hair_blue.png

shader shaders/glsl/litsphere

shaderParam litsphereTexture litspheres/lit_hair.png

shaderConfig ambientOcclusion True
shaderConfig normal False
shaderConfig bump False
shaderConfig displacement False
shaderConfig vertexColors False
shaderConfig spec False
shaderConfig transparency True
shaderConfig diffuse True

Is it the description line? Ooo I've almost got it...

All I need are the png and the mhmat, right? At least, that is what I understood from the instructions I found/got...

Anyway, there it is. What am I doing wrong? I'm probably staring right at it and it's not clicking for my dadgum brain.

11:29pm

mmmmm
got it to show up in materials, finally... now it's just not showing the TEXTURE. So, back to work. But I saw that somewhere in here as a thread, so I'ma go find dat. I love this work- it's so much fun! (skips away to go find thread)

12:09 AM.
sadly whatever I did to make it appear briefly in materials I must have altered. so now it doesn't appear there now. sadness.

1:25 AM.
Aaand, now I got it to show up as white again instead of black/orange label after tweaking the names again.
is that because it needs a 'diffuse texture'?
Do i need to put it in the materials folder instead of the hair folder? guhhhh
which files need to be created and put in the folder? just the png and mhmat (2), right?

hello,
the error is in the mhmat- file:
diffuseTexture long_hair_blue.png
you need to replace it with longhairblue.png, than it should work.

will do. I probably even cmae to that conclusion myself, but was overcomplicating it.

Hi,
Tested your mhmat- file with short01 that comes along with makehuman.
Simply put the new mhmat file short01_blue.mhmat in the folder short01 together with longhairblue.png (I've created for testing). It works fine.
