Adding Normal-Map to clothes in MakeClothes

Postby CrazyNova » Wed Jul 11, 2018 11:32 pm

So I can add a normal map after importing into blender, but how to pack the normal map into the clothes so it exports from Makeclothes?

Yes you can add a normal map in blender and makeclothes will compile it into the MH asset just make sure that you use blender render not cycles as makeclothes does not support cycles at all this should be done when you create the material for your clothing item.

Enjoy the Choice :)

Thanks :) i thought as you mentioned would be the case. I will try this right away. Does the normal map need to be named as such or will adding multiple textures on its own suffice?

The name is strictly for your convenience but descriptive names do help when you come back to the asset several months later ;) if the normal map does not show up within MH use the Materials Editor plugin which is on the the utilities tab though you may have to enable it first the material definition files are just text files so once you become more familiar with it's format you can use a standard text editor instead notepad ++ on Windows systems as M$ notepad will not give you the right line endings.

Enjoy the Choice :)

Yes the first attempt at exporting from blender internal > makehuman and then back to > blender cycles failed at the normal map. So I'll look into the material editor. Once I've cracked that it should (I hope) be smooth sailing
