How to run MakeHuman with a commandline option

My laptop isn't all that old, but it can't handle things anyway. I've done some searching, but cannot find anything on how to run Makehuman with a commandline option. The FAQ has a solution, which is great, but it doesn't give me a proper explanation.

An additional problem is rendering an image. My person renders as a solid black figure. I once found a post about it before, but it seems to be related to my first issue. I'm hoping that by fixing the first, the second will go along with it. If not, I can just export to another program (like Blender, although I have failed to understand how to use Blender in the past, so perhaps another program) and get any snapshots I need that way.
I've tried the IRC many times, but either it's never used or I always pick the wrong hours to try.
Sorry if this sounds like moaning, as I write this I'm very tired, which isn't good for moods and writing...
Thanks in advance for any help on these issues, this is a great (and free) program that I've wanted to use for a few years now.

For detailed instructions on how to run with a command line option, see second post in this thread viewtopic.php?f=6&t=11914&p=29099

For the general discussion on color problems in the 3d view, see FAQ at http://www.makehumancommunity.org/wiki/ ... help_me%3F

At the moment most of the core devs are occupied elsewhere, so unless there are other users online, your chances on getting answers are better on the forum than on IRC.

Thanks! Things are now displaying as they should. Rendering images still doesn't work, but I'm sure I can get around that by exporting to another program. I guess I'll have to see what programs I can use...
