Need help w/MHX Rig In Blender & Export DAE for Second Life

Hi Folks:
I created a figure in MH (1.0 Alpha 7) and exported the MHX, then imported the MHX into Blender 2.65. The figure appeared in Blender with the rigging, I went into POSE mode in Blender and posed the figure. I then exported the figure as a dae to import into Second Life. But SL couldn't read the dae file -- something was borked.
That's main issue.
Trying to fig out what I did wrong and why I only have three modes: pose, edit and object (pics below) when I'm in Blender.
What I'd like to be able to do is once I've imported the MHX into Blender and posed the figure, how do I shut off the pose/rigging so I can get into edit mode and reduce the mesh to it's lower poly... I can't seem to get out of the rigging and when I do go into edit mode, the figure isn't posed or subdivided -- it reverts to the spread arms pose with black rigging control points. Once I can achieve getting the posed figured int reg editing mode to reduced the poly, I will have to convert to dae then try to import into Second Life.
NOTE: This work is not for wearing a rigged mesh avatar in SL but for a sculptural piece to be rezzed inworld.
How can i do this?
1) correctly export MHX from MH (I think I'm doing this okay but need to be sure I have the settings correct)
2) import into Blender with correct Blender settings
3) pose the rigged mesh figure in Blender
4) get rid of the rigging so I only have an editable figure so I can reduce the poly
5) export as a dae with correct setting to import into Second Life.
