Request: change contents of media.ini

Postby joepal » Mon Sep 12, 2011 5:13 pm

Currently the media.ini file on the makehuman server only contains a list of file names, so there is no way to determine if textures need to be re-downloaded.

It'd be better if the file also included md5sums of the textures, for example:

I does know. See the local cache.ini.

The local to what?

http://www.makehuman.org/download/skins/cache.ini does not exist
There is no cache.ini in current svn.

Are these things documented somewhere?

The first time there is nothing in the skins folder, mh downloads media.ini, all the files and creates cache.ini.
The next time it does a conditional HTTP GET using the information from cache.ini.
If media.ini didn't change on the server, nothing more is done.
If it has changed, conditional HTTP GETs are done for the files listed in media.ini.

There's no documentation, but you can always read the source in core/download.py, it's pretty straightforward.
