Something wrong with the anatomy?

Postby marioschluse » Thu Jul 14, 2011 4:04 pm

Hi,
when I was trying some pose with make human models,
i noticed, that this pose in the picture is not possible (well, let's say it doesn't look natural)
Image
Either I did something wrong, or the model needs some more joints or so...
Thanks.
Again, I'm sorry for my poor english ;-P

I tried it at home. Can't do it either. My hands are too short or my legs are too long.
This post was made thanks to Me, Myself and I.

Probably is a rigging issue. The anatomy is correct.

The problem is probably due to too strict limits on allowed joint angles. This has caused me a lot of headache, especially for joints with 3 dofs like the shoulder. Following an old suggestion by Joel, I have introduced an option to turn off all Limit rotation and Limit distance constraints when an mhx file is loaded. This should allow you to reach any pose you want, but also makes it easy to get some really ugly deformation. Use with care.

oh my.. lol im not using blender but i do feel your pain. i cant for some reason see your picture or i could make more of a comment but thomas in your touching the toes pose remember that the hips bend too not just at the top of the spine. all of that rotates down too. not sure if thats what it was about as again i didnt see the first picture posted on the op's question. but in regards to the anatomy problem there are some problems with the line flow of the mesh that needs to be resolved it seems like it would be an easy fix and thankfully its already all quads ^^ but it makes for skinning nightmares ><. anyway just wanted to say yah i know where your coming from.
