Simple Female Bodysuit

Postby Freehunter » Fri Sep 30, 2016 2:02 am

When I made the Quick Start guide to MH Portable I tried Make Clothes so I could add informaton on where the output went. Using the simple female bodysuit, I made, to experiment with some textures from other CC0 User Contributions and thought I'd share. No zippers or other details but might serve as a start for a space skinsuit or a wetsuit. Experimented with the z-depth trying to get under other clothes which worked in some cases but might have to modify the .mhclo file. So this is under CC0.

Great work. Could you post a few poses, so we can see how the folds and deformations will work? This is the next big step for any piece of Makehuman clothing.

Sure, this probably shows the most problems. This character is above average height and a bit more muscle. A default female caucasian shows the same tendencies.

female_skinsuit_01_problems.png

The nipple poke through can be taken care of quickly by reducing nipple size and nipple point. The armpits and behind the knees are more problematic. The big break through seems to only happen on the left leg.

Cure. Increasing the z-depth in the .mhclo file might help but if too high might cover long hair. I considered following the advice to include a delete group http://www.makehumancommunity.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=13022 when I created the bodysuit. I was worried that if someone created their character with the bodysuit and exported, they might decide to change clothes in Blender and would find the body was missing all the vertices hidden by the bodysuit. So I left it to the user to do that in Blender after importing their character. That is why the link to VscorpianC's tutorial on hiding vertices. The user would have to add the body vertices within this area, careful not to get too close to edges of clothing, to the body's delete group.

forgot to add the other views

Realize now that I should have saved the UV map at a larger size, live and learn, but creating a custom texture should be possible. Here is a quick-and-dirty test:

On the geometry | clothes tab under options on the left is an option 'hide faces under clothes' that is checked by default. Unchecking this should let a user go ahead and export the geometry under clothes that belongs to a delete group. This leaves the choice with the clothes user.

When using MHX2 with advanced import settings, one can decide whether the delete vertex-group will feed a mask modifier or the modifier will be applied. I'm not sure about the behaviour on default import setting, it's possible the modifier will be applied. Everyone can check this easily. Given the fact that most users will use MHX2 anyway, I'd highly recommend using the delete vertex group. To me it's extremely convenient, solving a lot of problems easily. And on import you have the choice to use the non destructive mask modifier.

Sorry you're having trouble. I just checked and both the paf and zip downloaded OK with Firefox and DownThemAll.

example:
download-zip.jpg

Hopefully it was just a glitch. If not, what OS and browser are you using? Note the zip is for regular users of MH and the paf is for users of MH Portable.

I try with FF and connect to my account and transfert to my dropbox, I got this advise :
Les propriétaires de dl.dropboxusercontent.com ont mal configuré leur site web. Pour éviter que vos données ne soient dérobées, Firefox ne s’est pas connecté à ce site web.

Mean the connexion is not secure !
Why don't you bring it in the contribute assets ?

That seems odd unless Firefox doesn't like Dropbox. The zip is just text, jpg and png files in the folder layout to go into MH. The paf, since it is an executable, might give Firefox pause but it is just a self extracting archive, of the same files, like MH Portable itself. 7-zip can actually extract the files and they could be manually moved to MH.

I'm using Firefox 50.0 and didn't get any objections. But since it has become so paranoid, I have turned off some of its notifications. I don't randomly wander from site to site downloading so unless sites like Dropbox or MakeHuman are infected I don't expect a problem.

As to placing in contributed assets. This was basically the first set of clothes I ever made and didn't think it was that level. A starting place for someone to modify or for background characters maybe but... And with the number of textures a zipped bundle seemed more practical.

If you have not, I hope you can override Firefox and download.

Thanks for your interest.
