Scavenger thread

Postby learning » Wed May 04, 2016 3:59 pm

I've came to conclusion that it would be better to create a single thread for all the things I've scavenged from XNA and other models and made into MH assets. The previous such assets are:
Ellie (The Last of Us) hair: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=13215
Terminator T850 Biker costume: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=13246
Maxine and Chloe (Life is Strange) hair: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=13250
Senpai-kun (Yandere Simulator) Japanese schoolboy costume: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=13288

I'm going to keep all the scavenged assets in this thread from now on, so that I won't have to repeat the concerns (copyright/trademark etc) than may apply to them for some usecases in some jurisdictions. Use on your own discretion.

Today I also present a new haircut ripped from the Hetalia 2P Ukraine model. I've used this model for it: http://sovietmentality.deviantart.com/a ... -605688139 It has a bit of problems with deformation, as all MH assets, but it still looks rather cute.

The other thing I've adapted to MH is the biker boots from http://moogleoutfitters.deviantart.com/ ... -541339350

In fact I was looking for boots that would be usable for a male biker character, and this was the best I could find. The black and brown versions can probably pass as kind of unisex (not very well, the heel is still too high), the white and pink ones obviously can not. Oh well…

Should be easy enough to lower the heel hight in blender then re-running makewalk on the resulting mesh might need a new special heel pose for the lower heel.

Enjoy the Choice :)

The other day I've ripped yet another haircut into MH. This time it's the hair from that model: http://x-n-a.deviantart.com/art/XNA-Joa ... -365241035

You may wonder why so much of what I scavenge are short female haircuts. Well, truth is, they are the easiest to find and the easiest to rip, and I'm not really good at this…

Another model I've ripped into MH lately is one of the character Dante from the game Devil May Cry. Sadly I forgot to bookmark which particular model I've used and now I can't find it cause there's a literal metric fuckton of Dante models on DeviantArt. It's basically like this one http://sumirehaikuxna.deviantart.com/ar ... -360455586 minus the overcoat and the weapons. I've only ripped the lower part of the model (i.e. pants and boots that were the same object). The upper part (shirt + gloves) is not really that interesting. One can make shirts and gloves like this using basic MH assets or Joe's crude models as a base, and the texturing would probably have to be redone anyway. This part looks rather decent on MH models:

I feel like it's time to update the thread. Today I've ripped the hair from the model of Juliet Starling, character of a game called "Lollipop Chainsaw". The model itself can be found at http://p3dm.ru/files/7338_juliet-starling-nude-.html

What I did was adapt the haircut for MH. It now looks like this:

Hope someone would find it useful. The fact that people actually seem to download and use my "scavenged" assets despite apparent licensing problems means a lot to me.

Here I ripped the leather vest from a model of Biker Francis, character from a game called Left 4 Dead: http://tf3dm.com/3d-model/biker-francis-13908.html The base object included lots of other stuff apart from the vest, so the texture file has a lot of redundant space. Here on a preview it's shown together with "Dante's pants":

Here I have adapted the hairstyle Loki from Sims2 from this model: http://moogleoutfitters.deviantart.com/ ... -441815408 to MH in an attempt to find a long(ish) but not too pretentious hair suitable for male characters. It kinda works, even to a decent extent survives the deformation:

Well, I hope somebody will find it useful at least.

I don't think we can use MH for that.

I have adapted/hacked/kludged numerous assets from Daz3d and Fuse to MakeHuman and/or Blender. The mcjTeleBlender3 script (link below) was especially useful for converting Daz3d assets. Fuse has an export to OBJ format option and if you have an OBJ, you can make it into anything else.

https://sites.google.com/site/mcasualsdazscripts4/mcjteleblender3

Using these assets on characters that appear in projects like videos and pictorials doesn't violate copyright because using several different computer programs to create art is part of that whole "royalty free usage" thing.

However, it is quite another to share the assets themselves because they came from a copyrighted program and are not merely being incorporated into an art form. I really would like to share because some of these assets are really well done. Daz3d's polygon hair is the best I've seen and looks really good when rendered with the right node setup in Cycles.

Molly is also wearing wolgade's diamond earrings and callharvey3d's vest.

That said, I think I might be able to share some of the meshes that I edited, but definitely not any of the textures because those all have copyright stamps on them.

I will wait to hear back from some folks here before posting anything.
