suggestion: locking axis

Postby joepal » Wed Jan 06, 2010 1:32 pm

When applying scale/move of details (both on detail and micro-detail level) I think it would be useful if one could lock axes, so that a deformation is only done, say, along the Y axis. For example, say I only want the nose more pointy but not moving the tip either upwards nor to the side, I could lock out the horisontal and vertical axes and only scale along the depth axis.

Holding the X key should lock the Y and Z axis; holding both X and Y should lock the Z axis. (Which one is which one, btw? Maybe H, V and D are better suited)
Another idea is to take advantage of the 3 buttons mice have (or 2 + clicking both). This way, you could set MakeHuman to only move/scale parallel with the surface when you left-click, and perpendicularly when right-clicking. (Middle click would be free moving, along the 3 dimensions)
