Zooming

I've discovered the + and - keys will zoom in and out. It works in very small increments. I haven't found a way of doing it with the mouse (but mine has only 2 buttons). It would be great to be able to select a rectangle and zoom straight in, or be able to customise the mouse buttons between zoom, pan and rotate.
