Old PC; any render quality options?

My graphics card on my newer setup crapped out on me so I'm stuck using an old computer for a while until I can replace it. Are there any ways to reduce detail or quality so Makehuman will run a bit faster? Right now it chugs along at a barely tolerable speed when I try to zoom in or out.
