Downloaded a Community Asset, Now My Clothing List is Empty

Postby neomc » Sun May 29, 2022 9:19 pm

I'm a bit new to this software. I went over to the Community tab, downloaded a handful of community clothing assets, and went back into the Geometry page to mess with the new clothes. After I downloaded a few, the Clothing list is now empty minus one that did seem to download successfully (but with a broken texture). What would you direct me do to resolve the issue?

maybe some of the solutions suggested in this thread will help you:

Foreigners' reactions to Russian "Bird's Milk" candies
— Are your birds being milked?
— In Russia everyone is milked. Here even the zucchini is used to make caviar.

This just happened to me as well!

I re-synchronized my assets and doing so wiped out my clothing collection completely!

I also clicked onto another tab or two during the download and maybe this is what messed it up!

Here is what's on the filesystem:

$ ls makehuman/data/clothes/
fedora01 female_elegantsuit01 male_casualsuit02 male_casualsuit05 male_worksuit01 shoes03 shoes06
female_casualsuit01 female_sportsuit01 male_casualsuit03 male_casualsuit06 shoes01 shoes04
female_casualsuit02 male_casualsuit01 male_casualsuit04 male_elegantsuit01 shoes02 shoes05

Here is what it shows in the program: zilch.

I used to be able to choose clothing and apply them to the figure before this.

I tried the advice regarding filecache.py from the other thread and it had no effect whatsoever.

I start Makehuman from the shell with "python3 makehuman.py"

I see these errors repeatedly appear in the console btw

qt.gui.icc: Unsupported ICC profile class 70727472
QPngHandler: Failed to parse ICC profile

I think I will reinstall in a fresh directory and start over

Ok, I found advice in another thread to use the github tag 1944525e

git clone https://github.com/makehumancommunity/makehuman.git
git checkout 1944525e

Then after reinstalling makehuman using that version it's looking better, I can see the clothing I downloaded before, I guess they are stored outside of the main codebase somewhere

All downloaded assets are actually stored in the makehuman folder that is in your My Documents so yes very separate from the code but the full path on Linux should be /home/username/Documents/makehuman/v1py3/data/community-assets BTW that ICC error is very common on lots of Linux distros as that colour profile is not really fully standardised the real reason for that error.

Enjoy the Choice :)

Hi all.
I am experiencing the same problem on Windows, and managed to resolve it. Well, at least until I synchronized again.
The topic is here: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=20504&p=56226#p56226
I am a total noob, but I understood that the app creates 2 different data folders in different directories after the installation - one on your computer, and another one somewhere else (on OneDrive in my case).
As a result, there exist 2 Clothes folders in 2 different directories and there happens this confusion.
When you uninstall, and then reinstall the app, you find the clothes is missing, because the newly installed app still uses the data from the 2nd data folder, in my case on OneDrive, which is NOT being deleted after you uninstall the app.

So my question now is how to make the app use only one directory, and download all the assets, including when using Synchronize, to the same directory?

That copy on One Drive is a result of M$ policy on Windows and enforced at the OS level you can change the behaviour by checking the settings for your One Drive account. The policy is M$'s way of forcing users to keep backups of there user data and make using multiple computers easier though many multi-platform apps do get confused by that policy by default makehuman should not see the One-Drive folders.
