ubuntu 20.04 Release in ppa

Postby subgeometer » Fri May 01, 2020 1:41 pm

I got an error saying there's no Release main deb in the repository for the new ubuntu version when I attempted to install makehuman-community via apt.

I was just wondering when/if one was coming.

Feel free to delete the thread if it's not appropriate here

thanks

We cannot build older MH versions anymore, due to missing dependencies. And the new port of MakeHuman isn't ready to go to the ppa at the moment. I'd suggest to run from source, which is pretty simple on Linux:
Code: Select all
sudo apt install python3-numpy python3-pyqt5 python3-pyqt5.qtopengl python3-pyqt5.qtsvg python3-opengl
Then run git:
Code: Select all
git clone https://github.com/makehumancommunity/makehuman.git
Or download the zip from github and unzip. Run MakeHuman and have fun.

I need to validate that ubuntu 20.04 works first, but then I'll make a build for it. The reason it might not work is that MH currently does not work with pyqt 5.14, and 20.04 might ship with that.

Well, 1.2.0 works with 20.04 in virtualbox. So that's good news at least.

I've made a build now, but unfortunately the PPA repo got full. I've requested deletion of old packages, but this takes up to six hours.

But hopefully there will be a 20.04 build up tomorrow.
