Cannot install makehunan official

Postby frantas » Tue Aug 20, 2019 8:51 am

Hello,
trying to install on Ubuntu 18.04 I get this:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:makehuman-official/makehuman-11x

Err:21 http://ppa.launchpad.net/makehuman-offi ... 11x/ubuntu bionic Release

N: See apt-secure(8) manpage for repository creation and user configuration details.

sudo apt-get update

Err:7 http://ppa.launchpad.net/makehuman-offi ... 11x/ubuntu bionic Release

I know this is more for the bugtracker but this site is unfortunately down.
I hope someone can address this to the package maintainers.

I tried the community version too but this has unresolved dependencies.

1.1.X was not build for Bionic. Run the alpha version.

It should work with bionic. What was missing?

Hello,
sorry I have reopened #57. This one was closed without taking any action.

The Errors didn't vanish (I retried both 1.2 and 1.1 right now)
Due to Aranuvir the (due to the makehuman web) official stable release 1.1 was not built.
Do I get this right?
And to run the alpha version.
The alpha version is 1.2 - again, do I get this right?
For this I got from Joepal "It should work" .... but unfortunately it doesn't.
And the question "What was missing?" .... well, 404 Not Found

From the log output you pasted, it is clearly visible that you try to install ftom the 1.1.x PPA. There is no version for bionic there since 1.1.x isnt compatible with it.

The suggestion was to instead use the 1.2.x PPA at https://launchpad.net/~makehuman-offici ... -community. This contains builds for bionic, as can be seen in the package list at https://launchpad.net/~makehuman-offici ... /+packages.

If you cannot install "makehuman-community" from the newer repo, I would see a log output from that in to understand what happens.

Thanks for the reaction,
The output was in my former post already.
Using the link in your post (I think it is the same I used before). Here we go again

frank@frankies:~$ su -
Password:
root@frankies:~# add-apt-repository ppa:makehuman-official/makehuman-community
This PPA contains builds of MakeHuman 1.2.x, bundled with community addons (such as MHX). The MakeHuman Community 12x series is a different code branch than the MakeHuman 11x code. The source for MakeHuman and most of the addons can be found at https://github.com/makehumancommunity.

Packages from this PPA should be possible to install and run alongside packages from the makehuman-11x PPA.

To enable the PPA and then install MakeHuman, run:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:makehuman-official/makehuman-community
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install makehuman-community

On ubuntu this will install all plugins as they are "Recommends" in the packages. If you have switched off "Recommends", or if you are using Mint, you might also want to do:

sudo apt-get install makehuman-community-plugins-socket makehuman-community-plugins-assetdownloader mhx2-makehuman-exchange

This will install some plugins you are likely to want.

For more information, see http://www.makehumancommunity.org

This PPA also contains optional packages. The "makehuman-blendertools" package installs blender integration. The "makehuman-targets-dev", "makehuman-clothes-dev", "makehuman-hair-dev" and "makehuman-bodyparts-dev" contain raw targets and obj files for targets, clothes, hair and body parts respectively. Most people do not need the "*-dev " packages, but if you plan to develop new targets, the "makehuman-targets-dev" might make sense.

If you have questions, ask them on the MakeHuman forum: http://www.makehumancommunity.org/forum

If you need to make a bug report, post it on the MakeHuman bug tracker: http://bugtracker.makehumancommunity.org

I see:
the Err 15 line points to http://ppa.launchpad.net/makehuman-offi ... 11x/ubuntu

The PPA is for 1.2 but there are gets for 1.1x (this is not the only one) The Ign 12 InRelease points to the same.

I don't know the structure of the project tough. This can be by intention.

There is no error here. Apt properly reports that there is no bionic build in the 11x repository. This is correct: there is no bionic build there.

Then it reports that the 11x repository has been disabled, since there's no bionic build there. This is also the appropriate thing to do, since you can't install from there anyway.

On line 13 ("hit: 13"), it seems to update from the makehuman-community repo, without reporting any error.

The only problem you have here is that you get a warning for the 11x repository that you still have enabled. This is unrelated to the makehuman-community repository, which you seem to have properly enabled. Since you can't use the 11x repository anyway, the appropriate thing to do would be to disable it: https://itsfoss.com/how-to-remove-or-de ... quick-tip/

What remains for you to do is to run "apt-get install makehuman-community", as per the instructions that are printed in the console. Having done so, you will (most likely) get a working makehuman installation.

running some ppa-purge to remove outdated repos might be beneficial, too.

In case this was for me:
How do I run some ppa-purge? Sorry - I am not a developer, I am a 3d creator working with blender.
