I think the fix is ALREADY in both "default" AND "stable" on Bitbucket, so I'm having trouble understanding your comment. Could you provide additional detailed information on what you may have done that didn't work? On linux it should take little more than downloading and running because Python is built in to the OS.
Perhaps you mean the ppa package? I think that the next time we will update the linux package that it will be the Community Build based on Python 3, QT5, and updated openGL. It to runs out of the box and contains the numpy fix, but still has some openGL issues with some graphics cards. This decision is based solely on our limited human resources and the need to focus our time on the cross-platform infrastructure.
