Mhx-Exports references non-.existing *.tif files

Postby mcc » Sun May 02, 2010 4:26 pm

Hi,

from the head of an exported mhx-file (exported with a
svn-checkout of today):

Image texture.tif
Filename /usr/share/MHNEW/makehuman/data/textures/texture.tif ;
end Image
Image texture_ref.tif
Filename /usr/share/MHNEW/makehuman/data/textures/texture_ref.tif ;
end Image
Image texture_opacity.tif
Filename /usr/share/MHNEW/makehuman/data/textures/texture_opacity.tif ;
end Image

From the referenced folder:
-rw-r--r-- 1 mccramer users 1765330 2010-03-29 18:55 bump5.png
-rw-r--r-- 1 mccramer users 469 2010-03-29 18:55 color_temperature.png
-rw-r--r-- 1 mccramer users 4790140 2010-05-02 14:18 texture.tif
-rw-r--r-- 1 mccramer users 2097418 2010-03-29 18:55 texture2.png
-rw-r--r-- 1 mccramer users 720824 2010-03-29 18:55 texture_mix.tif
-rw-r--r-- 1 mccramer users 531018 2010-03-29 18:55 texture_ref.tif

Since texture_opacity.tif is missing, the human look like ghosts.

FIx?

(And yes: The referenced folder is a full copy)

There is no opacity texture anymore, the transparency is stored in the main texture now.

Hi,

...with the current setup I only get a picture of the specular highlight, which looks
like a "ghost".

When I insert an old opacity texture file for the "alpha" channel (now empty) as
an image, everything is back to normal.

Something seems to go wrong when re-exporting previously saved characters.

?

The texture has been changed just yesterday, so the blender importer still has to catch up to this change. Everywhere where the opacity texture was used, the alpha channel of the skin texture has to be used instead.

Hi,

I think there also has something to be changed in the exporter.
Just a minute ago I exported a newly made character (quick and dirty, just
someting to export) and in the exported file there was again the old
and unused file "texture_opacity.tif" referenced. Maybe the importer
only does what the exporter had told (via the exported file?)...

Just fixed in svn, for Blender 2.5. Probably not in time for today's daily build, though.

I will fix the Blender 2.49 importer for windows when I get to my windows box at work. It wont work in 2.49 under Linux, since .tif files cannot be read there.

MHX material now uses the alpha channel of texture.tif for opacity. The importer no longer looks for png files, because MH's tif files now seem ok for Blender

Anyway, if you commit stuff before six in the morning, they'll usually end up in the "nightly" build which is actually more "morningly" than "nightly".
