You can also download the source and type scons to build it :).

Like I said, I have no idea how to go about compiling the source. Im looking at the svn and I don't even see where I can download the source as a whole. I am relatively new to linux and only know a minimum amount of terminal commands.

I noticed that the new 1.0 alpha 5 version has just been released and the Ubuntu/Debian downloads have not been uploaded it. Im gonna assume the alpha 5 version is gonna have the same python dependency issue because its being compiled on the same machine as the alpha 4 version so its not going to help my situation.

Im all for attempting to compile it from source if somebody could dumb down the process for a linux newbie.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

After looking around, I found a way to add python 2.5 to Lucid. I guess ill guess wait for the Alpha 5 .deb file now.

I would still like to compile Alpha 5 from source if somebody could offer some help with it.

For anybody interested here is how to do it. Found at http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1468661.
Code: Select all
There is a person that has created  python2.4 and  python2.5 packages for Ubuntu Lucid Lynx.
 The only think you should do is add the  following two lines at the end of your   /etc/apt/sources.list
 deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/fkrull/deadsnakes/ubuntu lucid main
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/fkrull/deadsnakes/ubuntu lucid main And finally run:
 $ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install python2.5

It'll be up in a few days. I'll drop the 2.5 versions and standardize on 2.6 for nightly builds and alphas.

They're up now. All linux nightlies in

http://download.tuxfamily.org/makehuman/nightly/

Use python 2.6 now. So does the deb repositories at http://download.tuxfamily.org/makehuman/deb/

(info on how to add the repository to apt is at http://mh.jwp.se/deb.php .. ignore outdated info on python there)
