There is no stable version. However, if you "apt-get install makehuman-alpha" you'll get the alpha release rather than the nightly build. These block each other, so if you install makehuman-alpha it'll only update again if a new alpha is released. The makehuman-alpha is in the same repository as the nightly builds.

aqsis_1.6.0-0ubuntu1~karmic4_amd64.deb I think, not libaqsis.

Is this correct?
Nightly builds: The developer version(s) for people who are actually building or testing the software.
makehuman-alpha: What is needed to get the current alpha version.
Stable version: Not available yet - software is still in alpha.
Current non-developer version (end user): makehuman-alpha

Alright, at the risk of sounding like a noob I will ask yet another question : )
Do I need lib or data or FILL IN THE BLANK also?
UPDATE: I need at least lib for dependency reasons.

Anyone know how to recompile?
I removed (I thought) AQSIS 1.2 (and lib) before installing 1.6.
aqsl -version
aqsl version 1.6.0 (revision 0)
compiled Oct 20 2009 19:29:12

UPDATE: I will try doing the updates (update manager) and see if that helps... NOPE did not help.

Go to makehuman\data\shaders\renderman and delete the slx files. Then start makehuman.

slx is compiled sl. You should only delete the slx files.
