Impossible to start the MakeHuman program

Postby compostage » Thu Dec 31, 2009 9:32 am

Hi,

Sorry if my question seems stupid but I have searched on forums and everywhere I can, in French and in English, but without result.

My problem is : When I try to start the program, it refuse to start and this error message appear :
"Application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem."
Strange, no ?
And uninstalling and reinstalling the program doesn't fix nothing.
What can I do ?

Something is strange too : the Models folder is empty. Is that normal ?

Voila. Any idea or suggestion will be very appreciated.
And thanks a lot for your help.

The MakeHuman version I'm trying to use is the 1.0.0 alpha3b for Windows.
My operating system is Windows XP SP3. 1 GB ram.
Visual C++ 2008 is installed and Aqsis renderer 1.6.0 too.

Hallo first!

"Application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem." is a standart message from windows and it is shit. If your are looking for senseful error messages in windows you will be frustrated.

We have to investigate to solve the problem.

Hello Nadow !
Thanks for your reply.

Yes, MakeHuman seems to be a great program, interesting to work with Blender or other 3D applications.
I hope I will have the pleasure to use it, and this man seems to hope it too :

Hi,
Have you tried alpha4?
Have you installed the correct redistributable, linked here?

Best,

Manuel

PS: Visual C++ is not needed :-)

Hi Manuel,

Thanks a lot for your suggestion.
Yes, I have tried the Alpha4 few days ago (downloaded from the same place as your link) and... same problem, same message (Application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect...)
I'm wondering if the problem is coming from the MakeHuman "wrong installation system" (that's probably normal with an alpha version) or from something inside my computer ?

But, relax, I understand very well that the MakeHuman team have a lot of job and not much time for small problems as mine. ;)

I've got a similar problem on OpenArtist 1, built from Ubuntu 8.04
and yes, i've done : apt-get install python2.5 libsdl1.2debian libsdl-image1.2

This is not a similar problem. It fails importing os module, that's just a default python library. You should have it because you have installed python2.5, anyway it seem MH can't find it...

Mmm...weird.
In the worst case, I'll provide an alternative exe compiled with MingW, but we shoudl first understand why it doesn't work on your system...

Thanks, Manuel.
The problem is maybe coming from my system, yes, because on the Blender-clan forum, someone told me that the Alpha4 is working very well on his Windows computer.
