I came up with a game idea nearly two years ago and thought of a nice name for it. When I googled it, no one had used the name for anything. Now that I google it again, someone has released their first game on Steam with the same name 6 months ago. Can I still use the name for my game, since I came up with it so much earlier and there is no affiliation whatsoever?

Unless you copyrighted your label before them, it is open season for whoever gets there first. If their label is copyrighted, then the answer is "no".
