Make Human to Unreal

I'm semi-new to animation/rigging/modeling and am trying to get a make human model into unreal. Every time I get everything set up and replace the Unreal Mannequin with the MH mesh, the mesh folds sideways and distorts everything.

Using the default mannequin animations results in his legs revolving in a circle, his arms weirdly stretched, and his legs and torso smashed together at about waist level. I'm using MH 1.2, UE 4.26, the UE mannequin skeleton asset from the MH community vault, and a mesh I made in MH. The only thing I can think of is bad bone roll? It scares me to open it in blender and try to fix that without some more input, because it tends to not cleanly export from MH->Blender->UE as well as it does from MH->UE.

Any advice or suggestions would be hugely appreciated. MH is such a powerful tool, but I've been trying for months now and no matter what I do I can't get it to work for one reason or another. Thank you!

Start here. http://www.makehumancommunity.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=18462 There is a lot to learn. You cannot just replace the mannequin without several steps and planning. In the post i linked to, AssetDK has a nice wiki going that should get you up and running with the core knowledge. Sandy has a script that will make the Game Skeleton compatible with the UE4 naturally, and I have made a pose that matches the UE4 mannequin to be used with Sandys script.

Good luck :)

Hello everyone... I tried following the tutorial posted on youtube to get the figure into ue5 and all ok up to the part when he goes into the skeleton to make edits. Im new to ue5, so the ui he is using is different (way different), so im in the dark how to proceed after importing the character. the video is great, quick and simple and shows a successful transfer, but being new to ue in general and having a new ui to contend with makes it difficult for a newcomer to navigate the needed windows.

I dont suppose someone could repost a video using the updated ui?!?

I tried using the same method for iclone characters, in which from the makehuman figures skeleton i select the sk mannequin, duplicate the 3rd person blueprint, and in there again select the makehuman mesh, select the abp manny skeleton, save, compile......

any help would be greatly appreciated

I'm no expert in Unreal, but I know that the new version has a new skeleton (UE5 Manny/Quinn Skeletons). Maybe the problem is because of this.
we just updated GRT: Unreal module and it now supports the UE5 Manny/Quinn Skeletons. Feel free to download it and replace the old version.

What is GRT: Unreal module, google doesn't return a download link for this? I don't see the post you're quoting anywhere, if you could link to original post or download site, I'd sincerely appreciate it.

GRT is a Game Rig Tools addon. Unfortunately, the above quote from a personal letter, only for official users of the plugin. The letter informs about the release of the plugin with support for the new skeleton (Game_Rig_Tools_Unreal_module.zip). I posted it only as a link to proof of availability of the change in the UE5 skeleton.

ok...

if anyone could post a video explaining how to do this with the updated unreal engine, im sure the community would appreciate it.

i just dont know enough about unreal in general to navigate thru the process as he does. i tried in 5, and considered installing 4 to migrate to 5. hoping someone would chime in before i use drastic measures...

There is a specialist here who understands Unreal, but as far as I understand, he is very busy and will not appear for a month or two. I myself, unfortunately, can not help more, because I chose a another game engine.
