How do I animate an MHX2 model?

Postby MrColz » Sun Feb 13, 2022 9:16 pm

I have been trying to make a short film, but I have one roadblock. The only model that works for me that includes body rigs AND face rigs is the .mhx2 file for blender. However, I cannot figure out for the life of me how to apply animations to it using the NLA editor. More specifically, I need to apply animation data from an FBX model to this one. If you've ever combined Mixamo animations together you should know what I'm talking about. I have been able to put the animation block on the rig, but when I press play the model does not move. Any help is appreciated.

Maybe this tutorial will help you:

Hi! Thanks for responding. However, the tutorial does not help. I'll explain my situation in detail and hopefully that will help. Sorry for the troubles.
Currently, I have a rigged MHX2 model of the character in blender. I need to have a face rig on it because I am animating the guy giving a speech. However I am using mocap animations for this via Plask. I export to FBX, as I have more experience working with those types of animations. However (and I have linked a picture below using an example model and animation) when the animation is applied the armature does not move. Can you help me fix that problem? All I need is to know how to make the armature move when the FBX animation is applied to it. Maybe I'm applying it to the wrong part of the character.

I'm not sure it can be done simply…

However, the tutorial does not help.

What were the troubles with the tutorial?

hey I don't know if this helps but this helps me get a model talking and walking at once, here's the tutorial:

I don't use make human add on though, I just import it.... I would like to use the importer though, to better align the skin tone to the model......
