Mocap Causes Character to fold up like a pretzel

So I followed this tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dFLPjVWjmCY

But when I "Load and Retarget" mocap from the CMU's Motion Capture Database my character folds up into a pretzel instead of going into a T-Pose. Any idea how to fix that? Uploaded image if it helps. Looked through the faq's but I guess not many people get this sort of problem since there was no way to fix it described. Any help would be appreciated.

Using Blender 2.79b and makehuman 1.1.1

So did you use mhx2 or .dae or .fbx to move to Blender? Did the human have the cmu skeleton when exported?

I think these things are generally related to bone rotation in some way, and also related to coordinate issues that differ between object mode and Edit mode. Can you furnish a little additional detail about workflow?
