Trying to Fix Some Materials

Postby MTKnife » Sun Sep 15, 2019 5:53 am

I've been trying to upload a few corrections for screwed-up materials, and I ran across a problem. For two of the assets I was trying to fix, "Lip piercing gold hoop" (http://www.makehumancommunity.org/cloth ... _hoop.html) and "Lip piercing silver hoop" (http://www.makehumancommunity.org/cloth ... _hoop.html), the texture files were missing, and I managed to find them through internet searches. It looks like the reason they were never uploaded by the original author is that the asset uploader refuses to take any diffuse texture file smaller than 1024 x 1024. Is there any good reason the texture file for a lip ring needs to be that big?

No, there's no particular reason. The number was picked rather arbitrarily from the observation that there were no textures smaller than that around at the time. And that for really small assets, it wouldn't make much sense to have a diffuse texture instead of setting a solid diffuse color.

In this case, you're probably right--the texture makes little sense. But what about something like a ring, where you have two very different parts of the object?
