Asset database location

I just download the Asset downloader and MHAPI master. This database, which is obviously huge, as it took almost an hour to download, has bogged down my computer by pushing my drive to it's capacity, slowing my whole computer down to a crawl. But my question is where is this database located and what is the file name so that I can remove it, or is their a process I need to go through to remove it?
Thanks for any assitance.

All files are stored in the data location, see http://www.makehumancommunity.org/wiki/ ... _directory)%3F

If you delete the subfolder "makehuman/v1/data/community-assets", you've removed all that was downloaded as part of the synchronizing, including the JSON files holding the indexes.

Out of curiosity, what kind of connection are you on? I just tried synchronizing the database and it took about 30 seconds to download the 254 mb of data it consists of. But I'm on a fiber connection and in the same country as the server.

I am on a satellite connection as I am in the boonies. The download, as I said took almost an hour and when I looked for the file I noticed that my drive was almost full and started slowing, so I assumed that the file was quite large. I guess that is what I get for making assumptions. Now I'm going to have to hunt for the problem somewhere else. My internet connection is not that slow for a satellite. 25Mbps download. Must have other problems. Thanks for letting me know.

On startup, MakeHuman 1.1.1 pauses for about 40 seconds with the progress set to "Imported plugin 8_community_assets" on my machine. This is on my extremely fast work connection which is a T3 connection (but on the US side of the Atlantic). One has the impression that it is not purely a connection speed issue. Hitting synchronize from an old install takes about 90 s (there were ~250 Mb of community assets in this folder during the test).

If I rename the community assets folder, the startup process zooms right through the community assets check with negligible delay. When I hit sync under this "clean" condition, it was about 25% synchronized after about 10 minutes. Still waiting, but by extrapolation that is about 40 min to synchronize ...

So the bottom line is that there seem to be considerable time penalties for using the community plugin in certain locations. It is still a great plugin.

EDIT: i suppose one other comment that should be made here is that this synchronization event takes the focus of the interface rather than running in the background. This means on startup that the splash screen obscures all other application for an extended period on windows, and synchronization functionally stops use of MakeHuman for decades of minutes.

You're probably competing with some exabytes of spam and some other terabytes of less friendly data exchange between NATO and former Warsaw Pact, piped through some thin cables in the Atlantic. Joel should really consider to host makehumancommunity on a CDN.

@Rob: Is that on the current version? I removed the scan-on-startup functionality quite some time ago.

I guess I should check on this.

This is likely from the .zip of "all plugins" on the download page and not the git source version. Is that download package current? This brings up the question of how to track "versioning" for plugins, especially if we split them out. I'll get back to you when I've done some more testing.

Or it could be important Russian election-tampering terabytes

So, I just downloaded 8_asset_downloader from gitbub dated 4/26/2017 and there is a stall at community assets on start up. Is there something else I should have updated?

Not really sure where you got this version from, but it is probably outdated. The latest commit should date to somewhere in October 6th.

Well, this seems to be a common problem. I also have an outdated version, because any documentation I found points to the outdated plugin. It might be a good idea to change this.
