Importing Toons into Blender

Postby Taholmes160 » Mon Oct 09, 2017 11:52 am

Hi Folks

When I import a toon into blender, it tends to arrive in a bunch of parts, teeth, tongue, osing rig etc. im not sure if I need all the parts to be separate as I try to position and pose the toon. is there a way to "group" variousparts together for moving etc without compromising the ability to move, pose or apply textures etc. This particularly a problem when using blend_library to manage assets, and import them as there are about 6-8 parts that must be imported

thanks
Tim

When you import an mhx2 file there is an option to merge body parts. I don't know if that fits in your workflow but perhaps you can look at the code.

What you want to do is called parenting as in the sub-parts are parented to the main object that way the main object behaves as one thing that you can move scale rotate pose have look at the blender out-liner that is where blender shows parenting.

Enjoy the Choice :)
