It is careful modelling and texture painting from a few perfectionist we have around here 8-) They do like to work from close up pics of the real items for reference.

Enjoy the Choice :)

Wow. Is there a repository of such things that can be downloaded and used?

Most use their own cameras and pics though Google's Image search is usually a good start.

Oh that is definitely no rocket science ;)

If you want to use the zipper-slider from my assets, you can simply import the .obj file in Blender and re-use the geometry. Import the piece of cloth, select all vertices belonging to the slider, do "separate selection" and this new object to your object. Throw away the UV map from my piece of cloth, otherwise you have 2 UV maps and MakeClothes will complain.

The texture for the zipper-slider is "stolen" from an image with a metal surface (e.g. tubes). Do the same for buckles or buttons made from metal.

For the part of a zipper with the teeth simply try to use pictures from companies selling only zippers for fashion industry. Look for "large" pictures in google and do something like "-dreamstime -shutterstock" etc. to get rid of all these companies who want to earn money by selling a picture with only a zipper on it . I used a CC0 picture from Wikipedia and changed it a bit. Or take a photo of an own zipper.

Cool. Sounds good. Im getting from that that it is ok to add verts to clothes, hust not to add or remove them from the base or helper?

I wish I didnt have to work, it cuts into my computer time... Lol just kidding, im glad to have a job

Don't change helper or body. Makeclothes needs these as a reference object to calculate distances from your vertices to next one on the helper or body. If you "ruin" these objects the result will be unpredictable. If this happens accidentally, throw away helper or body and reload it.

Take the following picture as an example of all the possibilites. These are all Wonder Woman assets. When I started modelling two years ago, I first thought that I must exactly use the helper (that was, because the manual uses a copy of the helper and I wasn't sure what will happen, when I change something). Believe me, I had the same questions ...

You can do more than one object on one helper/body, but then be careful with the delete groups. In my case I have a copy of the delete groups for corset and boots. In case of re-creating the corset I've to assign the copy to the real delete-group. Otherwise the boots might erase the body or vice versa :?

The swords (do you see both?), lasso and shield are created in a vertical position and then moved to the final position.

Heres the problem that i am having...

Ive got a pair of casual pants that I want to add a pocket to that i copied from another pair of pants, i cant figure out how to join the pocket to the pants. When I try to make clothes, the script complains about having 2 pieces of clothes selected. I suspect that it has something to go with the vertex groups, dut im not sure what or how. Can someone please point me in the right direction

Thanks

In object mode: select destination object by clicking on it (right mouse button) in the outliner. Select other object: left mouse button, choose select. Result looks like this:

Then select from the Menu: object, Join or simply press ctrl-j.

That's it. If you now have two materials, simply delete one.
