getting tricky with delete groups

Postby badwolf » Tue Jan 24, 2017 4:09 pm

after a couple attempts at doing makeup i decided to abuse the delete groups function and make a way to do high rez makeup without making a huge skin texture

first i isolated the face verts from the makehuman model and deleted the rest
then i rotated the UVs 90 and stretched them to the whole map ( since everthing else was gone)
spin up a fresh human assign the face verts to "delete" (fix the groups on the masque) and Viola one full face masque ready for painting

a few notes

1 i grabbed the verts next to the ears and then circled around (up to forehead and under chin)
2 this is a blank material with exactly ZERO postwork
3 none of the masque verts have been moved or edited (direct rip of the verts)
4 i have not tested this with expressions or anything but a "load to make sure it does not catch fire" test

comments?? think this is worth submitting??

I don't know exactly what is needed...
What do you mean by a set of makeup on a ballet theme?

part of a ballet costume is the face makeup being worn during performances most of the named characters have a signature look to their makeup (certain deco on the eyes and lips with some deco on the cheeks).

do you think you could build a set of textures for my masque to provide said look??

Im trying to get a set of ballet theme assets together so they can be used in a ballet school (long term plan)

for example the Swan Costume could be matched with a White Swan or a Black Swan makeup set

with a swap of textures the same costume could be used for The NutCracker (SugarPlum Fairy) or FireBird or even as a practice outfit

If you plan to use blender for your final work, try this instead:
create a second UV, separate all the face verts from the rest. Skale the rest to very small and place it in a corner. So you have the UVs of the face, covering the bigger part of the UV layout, and the rest of the body is minimised in a corner. Create a new texture with alpha channel. Go in texture paint mode and paint your makeup. In the node editor, you can add the texture with the custom UV to the skin, using an attribute node or a UV node:
