Human?

Postby wolgade » Sun Jan 21, 2018 2:01 pm

This image has many sources of inspiration. The obvious are the movies Westworld from 1973 and its successor Futureworld. In both movies humanoid robots had these removeable faces. Other sources are Blade Runner and the TV series Real Humans (Äkta människor) produced by Swedish broadcaster SVT.

Looks like a Linux desktop there wolgage :) which does follow current production practices as using Windows made quite a few media company lawyers very nervous  even the X-files laptops used Linux desktops which where "Eurocom " custom made from a company here in Ottawa.

Enjoy the Choice :)

These companies got in trouble for showing a Windows desktop? Anyway, the image texture for the screen of the shown laptop was more or less done by taking a simple screenshot with my real laptop. You can even see when it was shot.

The nervousness was about corruption of their copyright with the inclusion of materials that are copyrighted by an other company have you ever noticed that novels that quote poetry will also provide a statement that it was used with permission song lyrics are the most common that I have seen. The entertainment industry has a very long history of litigious behaviour especially here in North America.Even music used in any movie must pay the copyright holder a royalty failure to arrange this in advance of release is deadly so with the Windows issue it is just an way to avoid trying to get that permission at all as if you do use it and there is any push back you loose both the scene and it's production costs apart from the legal fees so it devolves to you loose money and your shareholders would then be in a position for a class action so it very complicated

Enjoy the Choice :)

Cool, a funny and also sad picture. To update the firmware you must erase her memory :(
But doing a reminiscence to these old movies is a good idea.

I also see the Blender icon on the toolbar, it is the desktop of an insider ;)

Well not only Wolgade is using Linux ... I have an ugly small Windows system on my desk at work (for the emails etc.). But I've approx. 200 Linux systems doing the real work.

Yeah I dual boot with Win10 but have not booted into it in over a year  my brother bought me a new version of Kaspersky Total Security that I haven't bothered to install yet no reason but that to boot Windows even Unreal 4 hasn't tempted me :ugeek: even got a discount when I bought my laptop by wiping Win 7 64 bit for Mint  though the finger print reader has no Linux driver as it's a Broadcom device remember all the problems with their wi-fi chips.

Enjoy the Choice :)

Cool image :D 8-) AND, I have totally missed to download punkduck's "Sleeveless Shirt"

I liked Real Humans (Äkta människor) as it was an unique aproach of scifi. Good scifi's is hard to find.
Next system for me will probably be Linux. I have never liked Windows and the latest, no way (in a very hot fictive place).
Any Linux system to suggest a beginner? It may be time to make a soft start.

Mint does a fairly good job of straddling the line off holding your hand and sink or swim it's based on Ubuntu so very stable and they have long term support it also handles propitiatory drivers for your GPU even Cuda support for my nVidia GPU is taken care of though I gather that AMD's Linux drivers still don't make the grade and their forums are very friendly when things go pear shaped on you.As for a soft start you can try one of their Live Disc downloads or put it on a thumb drive and have a totally portable system in your pocket that you can boot just about any PC that you have access to even prefer the Mint developed desktop Cinnamon myself.

Enjoy the Choice :)

I still hope Wolgade will add a picture with the details enlarged ... because behind the face the circuit board is very detailed and not only a picture with a normal map ...

I also got the information, that he had to do a special proxy, so that you can remove the face.
