Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2018

Postby Mindfront » Sat Dec 23, 2017 11:51 pm

This is a quick render because I wanted to get it done before Christmas. The background is a bit clutter and would look better out of focus.

Ok, let's do it in our native language: Frohe Weihnachten und ein Frohes Neues Jahr. In English: Merry Christmas and a happy new year.

We had German allready ... I will add the Balkan versions, I'm not sure if we have Forum members over there:

Croatia: Sretan Božić i Nova godina

Serbia: Srećan Božić i Nova Godina (or cyrillic: Срећан Божић и Нова Година)

Since MakeHuman is international, you should not forget, that Christmas is starting on the 24th of December and ending on the 6th of January (orthodox Christmas, e.g. Russia, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Serbia ...).

Considering the rendered picture, it is great, a lot of assets combined ... perfect. Fortunately you didn't do a Santa Claus

But I don't know if I'm right, but the HDRI location "Teufelsberg Ground 1" could be this one in Berlin:

https://www.hertrich.photo/pano/Berlin_Teufelsberg_NSA_Field_Station_v2.html

The location itself is in a way apocalyptic because the hill is made only from the debris of World War 2.
Then it was the highest elevation in Berlin and the U.S. built a field station on top. A leftover of the cold war and also a part of common history of Berlin and the U.S.

Btw.: Fortunately the whole story didn't end like in the picture ... :?

So I also wish a peaceful Christmas ... and happy new year ...

I and Bellatrix had to swallow the pride of doing everything ourself. But its hard to find good usable (free) 3d models, many looks good in their preview but when loaded in Blender the mesh and UV is often a big mess. In the end, it turns out that it's faster to make your own model than to remesh. But there are some good ones requiring minimal work to use and for that we are thankful (like yours :D )

A santa was planned but then plucked away, and is now waiting to next christmas :)

I never thought about checking what "Teufelsberg" was, but that HDRi serie is perfect for our liking for apocalypse images. 8-)
