I can't remember to have seen any differences between Windows, Linux and source versions. Maybe you should be more specific what about "seems not to work".
The other error you are mentioning seems to be a Windows problem. Technically it's easy to install an environment to run code from source. Download the software packages mentioned in the overview of the documentation (
http://www.makehumancommunity.org/wiki/ ... e#Overview). Be careful to get python 2.7 and qt4 and strictly avoid mixing architectures (either i386 or x86_64). Then download the source zip from bitbucket and completely (!) UNZIP the whole package before first run. You can extract the package to any folder of your choice. Best keep it in Documents, and, of course, avoid system folders. That's it!
