I use makehuman a lot to assist with my artworks, so I want to give back a little. Hopes this fits the contest guidelines.

Very cute.

I'm really pleased with the contributions so far. :-)

@ "sepharis" - Wow a very nice entry, 1 question though the plain white lady, why does she have real ears? No offence its just that it stands out a bit much to me.

Anyway, for contributions: Please add versions both with and without the logo and version info. As was pointed out above, the version info is automatically laid out on top of the image, and there will be a progress bar and whatnot too.

A clean version of my contribution. :)

And, for the curious:

material_tree2.jpg
Cycles node tree for the rightmost toon.

material_tree1.jpg
Cycles node tree for the middle toon.

Instead of textures, I achieved the material splits by editing the normals and using the dot products for the blending factor.

composite_tree.jpg
Compositing node tree for final image.

Instead of using three copies of the model, I used the same model in three different Scenes, changing only the materials and the camera position. I can then pull the render layer from each scene, add the background and other effects, and use a whole lot of Alpha Over nodes to put it all together.

Ooh I made this on the fly, and I forgot to remove the subsurface scattering map on that. Here is the amended entry :) Thank you for the advice.

Only found out about this contest 2 days ago, here's my quick attempt at something bearable. Inspired by Michelangelo, as when I think of the words "Make" and "Human" in one sentence, even though I'm not Christian, this is pretty much what gets into my mind. Please forgive me for the fireflies, my rig isn't the best and I couldn't be bothered to wait more than 20 minutes. Should I win (which is unlikely, with so many great entries!) I'll of course make a better render.

Anyway, there's a good number of entries. I think that shows there's still interest in a Monthly Contest. I think the main reason they stopped, is there were too many. Producing something new each month is kinda hard if you've got other things to do as well. Maybe it's an idea to start them again, but with a little less steep deadline? Let's say, a Seasonal Contest?

Yes, this sounds like a good idea. Or maybe the occasional contest when there is a specific idea or a special reason (such as the splash screen thingy).

This workflow would make a cool tutorial.
