Beautiful. What I like best about this splash screen is what is best about the MH community. Truly a team effort. :D

It looks assymetric, and I'm not satisfied with the fading between skin and wireframe. But I guess you get the basic idea.

Somehow I like this image as it shows both a female and a male.

Ok, this is the official contest entry. Anything I did the last two days made the image worse, so I thought: Maybe it's finished. I adopted Loki1950's idea of repeating the pose on the wireframe character. I also visualized the rig although I rejected Punkduck's idea at first. Other changes are harder to see. Thanks to RobBaer for providing the initial spark and thanks to Punkduck and Loki1950 for helpful feedback.

And this is how it should look like to be usable as a splash screen:

I dont want to be biased because it has my ballet dress ;) but this one really pops right out of the screen :o Really nice work!!!

And, if anyone is curious:

Node setup for left-side toon

Transp_klara.png
Transparency map for left-side toon

The "skin" node is from PBR materials http://3dwolf.weebly.com/materials.html (I can strongly recommend these, they make life a lot easier).

Otherwise the approach is to transition from the skin material to a wireframe material by using the alpha value of the transparency map.

The wireframes of the toons are how they look after having applied the "decimate" modifier at 0.4 - 0.5.

I did some minor post processing in GIMP, mainly I added the "soft glow" filter.

Did you test it?

Version info is generated by MH, progress bar overlaps your hard coded version info.

No, I didn't. That might, obviously, have been a good idea. :-)

Thanks for the head's up.

I've adjusted the hard-coded text in my entry to fit with the generated version number, loading info, and progress bar. Please consider this my official contest entry. :)
