The idea in general is that it would be possible to change at least the shade of skin, maybe some other parameters. Baking is fine for creating a single character, but not the best solution for the character generator.

I believe that this problem is solvable. If I can't solve it, I'll ask for help from engine shader experts.

Current status of new skin shader. Note tweaked bump layer for aureolae, the subdermal veins color variation and the tweaked spot layer.

It looks great. Is that a Blender shader?

Yes, it's a mostly procedural blender shader. The only non-procedural parts of the skin in the image are router images for determining which aspect of the material to add at which position of the body.

I've uploaded an early demo of the material here: http://www.makehumancommunity.org/conte ... 30115.html

Suggestions for improvements are very welcome.

What's the version of Blender?

There are most likely nodes in there which require 3.4

Yep. Maybe it makes sense to specify the required version of the program?

In my opinion — the skin texture is excellent! The idea of veins under the skin is great…

I'm looking at everything from my point of view — transferring it to the game engine. And there are big problems with shader portability. In the new version of the engine, the shaders are significantly redesigned and not finished yet. There is no full-fledged documentation, of course, either. :(
