Telecaster Angel

Postby brkurt » Wed Dec 23, 2015 4:05 am

Hello everyone...here is a preliminary image of my December contest submission. I call it 'Telecaster Angel' and I am dedicating it to my favorite young guitarist, Yasi Hofer.

There are a lot of new things I had to learn, such as: how to move objects between scenes; how to model from a blueprint; and finally, how to create wings using Dupliverts. There's a lot to be said for Dupliverts here as one wants the feathers to move in groups, so it doesn't make much sense to create a single wing object with a single texture map. Yes, the wings will be rigged, and I will upload this model to the crew.

I've been playing Telecasters professionally since before most of you were born, so creating a model was truly fun.

And here are the wings with the feathers properly aligned. Note that I'm not going for anatomical perfect here, just a more iconic look.
I will rig the wings in the next post, however.

The Tele had to be rescaled, and I've added the pickguard and strap.
This is a custom-built Tele I saw once; it has two 'lipstick tube' style pickups that are actually extra hot and powerful, with tapped coils.
The volume control is first, and quite a bit forward compared to a standard Tele; that allows one to do volume-control tricks, pick notes, and mute strings at the bridge, all at the same time. Very pedal-steely. :geek:

Maybe I'll add a Clarence White B-bender... ;)

In honor of the 'Who" I'll have her playing (smashing down on a) 'A" Chord, Pete Townsend style. :)

And finally, here's the model. Merry Christmas everyone! :D
