I don't know about easy, but you could try this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1DD5VvyO7uI

She's a bit wordy, but if you already know what a UV is, you can skip to about 13:00 to see what she does with projection painting.

is there a way to create easily a texture skin from a face picture (front/back/left/right)? I mean, is there a tool to transform a face picture into this texture skin (face part)?

Gaetan.

Quick answer, you might have guessed it, is: no. Very unfortunately, as far as i know, until present even the proprietary solutions are not what i would call easy. It's called photogrammetry. You make dozends of images from different angles, you disable auto-exposure at your camera for a constant light, you kill your model so it can't move, you resize them a bit unless you work for NASA, you clean up the voxels, you put that into a remesher, you tweak it, you import it into blender, you transfer UV's, and there you are!
Piece of cake. And all that is available as open source as well in your favourite internet.
Hence, projection paint in blender seems to be easier still. On the blender side, we can't expect many improvements in that area, since they are working on the next big general change (blender 3.0), so not only no time for new ideas, but also a kind of rushed results. I won't be surprised to see a version 2.78d in the next weeks, because everyone is stressed by their own expectations, and everything is knitted with a hot needle, so there are many bugs.

But maybe, in the long run, if the MH team ever might get bored, we will see photogrammetry implemented into MH. Who knows. The century is still young...
And here's my poor man's photogrammetry proposal: After making the pictures for the projection paint process, paint some dots in the face and make a short movie. That can be used to track these dots in blenders camera solver. This way you have at least some refence points for modelling and not only front and side view.

Killing for a good texture. :D Might be the hardest part for those of us with, at least, some moral standards.

To get serious: Projection painting is an option if you have good reference photos. Unfortunately most photos have highlights and shadows which are great from a photographer's point of view, but hell when it comes to making a texture. Of course you should own the necessary rights to use and publish the derived work from the photos. In this case it's not only about copyright, but also the human rights of your hopefully still alive model. Your model might not like the idea of her/his face being used to advertise racism, religious wars or totalitarism. This excludes CC licenses.

In some way I have the problem, because I modelled my girls from real life erotic models using a lot of pictures and trying to get rid of all unwanted light effects.

But fortunately skin and geometry must really fit together so that people are able to recognize a real life person. I never was able to do that with the target sliders of MH and last not least I often decided to use complete symmetry, which looks prettier but does not really exist in nature.

Doing further changes in Blender after importing the MH models make them look more similar. But I don't think it is a good idea to show these result in this forum, I guess then I run into trouble. I also never will upload the skins into the assets because of exactly what wolgade mentioned. I also will not do offending scenes with these textures. It is weird, because these girls are only pixels and geometry, but with the respect to the real person I can't do it. On the other hand, I guess these models never have done everyday pictures in reality

In a lot of cases projection painting does not look very natural. Sometimes it is more like a picture of a head on a sphere. But you can get a 3d model of yourself from a lot of companies printing in 3d. I hope they only sell the model to the owner :?

Last not least people model characters using skins and geometry from e.g. 3d.sk. The reason why a lot of Blender users (including myself) now are familiar with the czech porn actress Anetta Keys (Blenderella videos). 8-) She is doing porn ... she sold the pictures to 3d.sk and you can buy and use it officially. But will that give you the right to use her body/skin for e.g. racism or religious topics? She's a human being like every one of us.

I do not want to be pessimistic, but I guess these problems will occur in the future. Especially when it becomes very easy to create 3d copies and when we think about the use of our personal data today in the internet ... :(

I know about a 3D.sk model with this name. Wasn't aware of the rest of the story.

Straight no. You're not allowed to use these textures in such a context. You're not allowed to use them for porn. This is clearly stated in the license terms. I thought about licensing 3D.sk stuff to do skin textures and release these as CC0. It's not doable. Not because of copyright restrictions, but because of the restriction that these textures couldn't be used without limitations.

On the one hand this is sad, on the other: I'm absolutely convinced that human rights and human dignity are much more important than any 3D model. If we didn't have these two fundamentals, we would have bigger problems than doing a texture.
