Ivy REBOOT (wip)

Postby N.O.A. » Thu Apr 09, 2015 1:15 pm

Hey guys! it's been a while since I posted here :D
I was caught up in a lot of school stuff... and I've just graduated high school  yay!
aaand there comes college and more serious stuff  but since it's still summer... I would surely make more posts and stuff

Remember my character Ivy? I decided to make a reboot of her using the latest makehuman stuff (well not that latest since I haven't downloaded the newest nightly)
so here's my progress
ivytest1.png

looking nice... I decided to make my own eyebrows and lashes so that i could manipulate it better (but it's hard XD)
also tried to make a bump and spec map but I'm still working on it
ivyhairloss.png

testing out the hair... seems like hair particles doesn't like me at all
weirdpose.png

testing out some pose.. there were some weird deformations....
ivyrawrender.jpg

ditched the pose and tried to render this foreveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeer...lol
it was so noisy and weird and the hair was.. blocky?
ivyedited.jpg

removed some noise and put some photoshop magic and that's it XD
still a wip.... I might remake this with the newest nightly... if only my download speed was faster
she might not look like the same Ivy... but it's a reboot you know

Sorry if it's a rude remark, but she looks like she has a hangover

Might be because the eyes look a little too far closed.

Hey guys, I'm back! :D
thanks for all the compliments  ... yeah she kinda looks a bit sleepy back there
decided to make some revisions with her face... and I thought it looked good ;)
so here are some test renders (they're a lot grainy cause they are just tests XD)
ivynewface.png

and i took me all day to do dat eyebrows and lashes XD
ivybalding.png

testing out the hair... yes it's wrong lol... I think particle hair hates me
ivybalding2.png

tried to make some revisions with the hair but still... nope... it wouldn't cooperate at all
maybe I parted or clumped it too much
oh well...
next time I'll try to model her suit but then I'd reimagine it as some kind of mecha armor robot suit thingy XD... so it would take some long time XD

I trick I used with particle hair in old blender internal render was to have a ramp with transparency for hair strands. As in starting close to 100% opaque at root and then gradually getting more transparent towards tip. That made the hair look more fluffy in total.

Don't know how to implement this in cycles though.

Wow, how did you do this? This seems useful, but I can't find the option. Is it in material tab or in particle settings tab?

Was a while since I used blender internal, but I found this for cycles:

Looks awesome! Which rig did you use? All of them have weird weights for me in the nightlies.
