Angelina

Any gurus out there I need an answer to a quick question. See the hairline right at the edge between the face and hair? What causes the unwanted appearance of stubble? I have this happen every now and again and sometimes I can edit it out in Gimp but I'd like to avoid it altogether.

Hello Salty...

The first place to look is at the hair image, to see how the alpha channel is set up. Normally, transparency will be increased at the borders of the image for hair.
If you are working in Blender, just turn the alpha channel off to see what happens.

Shoot... I forgot to mention this is particle hair.

Okay, we're back to the same old problem in Blender. Particle hair alone won't give the natural-looking transition that you want; normally I create a 'wig' vertex group, and give it a separate material; the particles emit from the wig polygons, not the body mesh.

That way I can control how transparent it is with respect to the actual scalp.
