Berylia's Wig Rigs

Postby brkurt » Sat Jul 05, 2014 9:50 pm

Hello everyone...I'm nearly finished with my villainess from my graphic novel "First Sister" which you can peruse at http://nuegua.geekopolis.ca

This is Berylia. She is shorter than average, very curvaceous, and a master of wushu kungfu. I will be putting her through some Tong Bi Quan forms over the next few days.

The purpose of this post is to show how effective multiple wigs can be, when each has its own rig. This technique is Blender-specific, and even there, it is a bit weird. The wig mesh jumps all over the place when parented to the wig rig, and I have no idea why one has to drag it back into place.

The first screenshot is the basic long hair mesh from MH 1.1, with a four-bone rig:

The second is a calf-length three-string braid, with twelve bones. (Very much like Grendel's mother from "Beowulf")

And here is a video with both rigs:

What the combination of Blender and Makehuman do really well is fast prototyping of a character. In this case, I needed a third wig for a particular chapter in my second novel, which you can peruse at:
http://nuegua/geekopolis.ca

A simple way to indicated the passage of time and the growth of a character is to change costumes. For this chapter, my character needed a complex wired headpiece. Her outfit if very provocative, and the headpiece had to be truly creepy:

Here is the video of development; from here, I will integrate the headband in the jewelled hairpiece.

And here is the final design, before UV mapping. I tried to import this as a wavefront object into TopMod, but the program choked on it. TopMod can't handle ornate objects; it likes to create them instead.

I think the woman a beautiful face.
I find it unfortunate that you are not rendering photo, your character caught my eye ;)

Many thanks; it took a while to model this character. She is a combination of Salma Hayek and Jade Xu. :)

Her eyes are 10% larger than the human norm, and I had to resize the entire lower face to get her very high cheekbones to look the way I wanted.

I'll post the kungfu animations of her on by the weekend. I'm trying to use only poses without shape keys, but I don't think that is possible for the clothes.
