Hey!

I created my first tutorial ever. The goal is to create rigged realistic character for Maya. There is not a lot of tutorials for Maya, so I hope this one wil be beneficial for someone.

Here is the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DmaHGWqPt38

As I mentioned, it is my first tutorial. I will appreciate any feedback!

Fun fact for users of the free student version of Maya you do not own anything you create with it read the small print in terms of use doc.

Enjoy the Choice :)

Nice job. Look forward to part 2. I don't use Maya, but years ago as an exercise, I wrote a Wiki on getting things into Maya. I was quite hampered by having no Maya skills. The hardest part was handling transparency (which I do discuss), but I never did master handing skeletons and poses. The text is here: http://www.makehumancommunity.org/wiki/ ... _Workflows I suspect more should have been said about handing the transparency issue in the different Maya rendering engines, but I was to unknowledgeable about Maya to do that.

I think it's great if Makehuman is available to artists in other 3D programs, and your tutorial seems to have some great tips. The t-pose tip was the one that really caught my eye because I never solved the posing issues before moving on.

Thank you so much, I am a so happy you find it useful. I remember reading your text during creating my first character and it helped me a lot :)
It took me about one month to figure everything out with the character, I was hopeless sometimes, but after all it worked out :) so it's great I can share my experiences here. Btw the second part is out, I am fixing there the transparency issue (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9odNsSzpsFY).

Another nice tutorial. Thanks for sharing these. There is so little out there on how to move from MH to Maya. Making hair in Maya looks ahead of Blender in a number of ways.

Thank you! Exactly, that was my main motivation to do this tutorial! I don't know much about Blender, but indeed, the hair system is very clever in Maya.
