You don't say what version of MakeHuman, but if there was a .mkh extension, I guess it was before my time or I have missed it. The texture files for the skins in the current version of makehuman are in .png format, and are located in the subfolders of data/skins as in c:/makehuman-1.1.0/makehuman/data/skins folder (standard MH assets) and :\Users\%USERNAME%\Documents\makehuman\v1\data\skins (user created assets)
There are corresponding .png texture files for each type of hair included in the sub folders of C;/Makehuman-1.1.0/makehuman\/data\hair/ (standard MH assets) and C:/Users/%USERNAME%/Documents/makehuman/v1\data/skins (user assets)
